Gloria Callinan is a Project Support Officer with the Sustainable Development Research Institute (SDRI) of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) based at the Thurles campus since 2021. Gloria works primarily on sustainable construction skills and energy communities research and development projects for TUS, including many Build up Skills initiatives of the European Commission. The current Build Up Skills project is BUSI2030, which delivered a roadmap for upskilling in Ireland to meet 2030 climate action targets. Gloria’s areas of interest in construction skills are circular economy, decarbonisation and digitisation. Gloria has worked on the Horizon funded HumanTech project since its commencement in 2022 where TUS lead on the design and delivery of a suit of micro learning units for industry. She also lectures part time with DASBE, the Digital Academy for the Sustainable Built Environment. Prior to joining TUS, Gloria worked for 20 years in European and Irish funded programmes for rural development in her native Co Clare.
