As the Head of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) at Designer Group, Derek boasts over two decades of expertise in health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) management across diverse sectors, including life science, microelectronics, data centre, healthcare, commercial, biomass and industrial. With a background in trades, Derek has served in senior management roles for over ten years and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
Derek is a member of various committees, including the Construction Safety Partnership Advisory Committee, CIF Safety Committee, and H.S.A/CIF Collaboration Group. Moreover, he presently holds the position of Chairperson of the Lighthouse Club construction industry charity, which he assumed in May 2021. In this role, he actively promotes the organisation’s services throughout Ireland.
Since joining Designer Group in 2019, Derek has propelled the company to secure back-to-back NISO Supreme Safety Awards, making it the first construction company to achieve such an accolade.
