David Smith

A graduate of both the National College of Ireland and University College Cork, David is the Director of Construction, Quality and Green Skills in SOLAS, the further education and training authority. Prior to this appointment, David held managerial posts in SOLAS where he oversaw the implementation of EGF programmes and craft apprenticeship operations. In his current role, he is responsible for Safe Pass, CSCS and QSCS operations and for implementing key actions from various Government directives including Housing for All, the Climate Action Plan and Skills for Zero Carbon. David is also working with DFHERIS to establish the Construction Licensing Authority which will regulate and provide a statutory basis for all construction training in Ireland.
