Dr Alison Gilliland is the Executive Director of the Construction Workers Health Trust. She has a background in education, training, trade unionism, equality, local and European politics affording her a rich diversity of expertise and skills across a variety of sectors and in many public, private and not-for-profit organisations.
Alison brought a new energy to CWHT when she joined in January 2024. She has led its transformation, establishing its own inhouse health screening nurse team, digitising the CWHT health screening management system and enhancing the organisation’s governance systems. The organisation is now averaging 1,000 worker health screenings per month, disseminates weekly health information to all those screened and manages the Clean Air Site Campaign on behalf of CIF and the ICTU.
Outside of work Alison is passionate about sustainability and the adaptive reuse of buildings. She is a member of the Vacant to Vibrant Building Alliance and an Irish Green Building Council Board Trustee.
